Introduction

Atlas is a proactive health service helping people understand their bodies through clinic appointments and at-home testing, supported by GPs and accredited lab partners. The service offers a wide range of clinical tests and biomarker reports with fast turnaround times and expert follow-up, giving people clear, clinically grounded insights they can actually act on.

The Challenge

When I first reviewed the Atlas brand and website, there was a clear disconnect between what the service delivers and how it was presented. The brand leaned heavily into a futuristic, tech-led aesthetic that unintentionally masked what Atlas really is: a human-centred, lifestyle health service grounded in clinical expertise and personal support. On the product side, tests and biomarker information were scattered and highly clinical. Users struggled to know where to start, how tests related to one another, and how biomarkers connected to their personal health goals. The brief was twofold: humanise the brand, and rebuild the information architecture so people could confidently choose the right tests without friction or confusion.

What I Did

I began with a discovery phase focused on information architecture, taxonomy, and user mental models. I audited the full catalogue of tests and biomarkers and reorganised everything into user-facing health areas so people could browse by intent and outcome rather than scanning long clinical lists. This directly informed a new "Find your test" journey, using strategic CTAs and decision points to guide users toward the right tests without overwhelming them with medical detail.

From there I translated the new IA into clear, low-friction user journeys across discovery, test selection, checkout, and results interpretation. I designed and iterated on wireframes and interactive prototypes for each flow. I also defined consistent content patterns for biomarker explanations, breaking complex clinical outputs into plain-language insights, clear next steps, and signposting to GP support where relevant.

On the UI side, I refreshed the visual system across colour, typography, imagery, iconography, and components, shifting the tone from tech-driven to friendly, expert, and lifestyle-oriented. The result is a modern, trustworthy identity that also feels warm and accessible, reflecting the real Atlas experience.
