Introduction
Fused Bills is the student-facing arm of One Utility Bill, simplifying shared living by rolling energy, broadband, water, and TV bills into one monthly payment. Despite being a key part of the One Utility Bill brand, their existing website was outdated, underperforming, and failing to resonate with a student audience. The user experience didn't reflect the simplicity of the service, and mobile usability, critical for this market, was lacking.
The Challenge
Fused needed a complete reimagining of their digital presence: simplify the user journey on mobile, build trust quickly with students unfamiliar with bill-splitting services, improve messaging clarity and visual hierarchy to increase sign-ups, and create a flexible modular design system their team could manage independently.
What I Did
I started with discovery workshops to understand the challenges Fused faced and the behaviours of their student audience. From there I took a mobile-first approach to UX, optimising layout, navigation, and calls to action for seamless use on the go.
On the UI side, I leaned into Fused's vibrant, youthful brand — incorporating dynamic imagery, cutout-style graphics, parallax animations, and custom illustrations to make the experience feel energetic and engaging without sacrificing clarity. I also built a flexible modular design system, giving the Fused team the ability to create and manage content independently, without needing ongoing developer support.
